The Milford Oyster Festival is annual tradition that is lots of fun. It is usually held the third Saturday of Every August.
It is a festival that includes, music, food, and arts and crafts and fundraisers for non profit organizations such as High School clubs and volunteer organizations. Also there are arts and crafts vendors throughout the city.
The center is closed down for the day and and is spread thorough to Fowler field behind the Milford Library. This is the only day in which you can walk down the street without getting run over.
There is no tickets (unless you get the food or rides which are usually found on the Fowler field. Booze is not allowed off that area but there are always people who will break the rules.
There is entertainment for all walks of life. I am not sure who is on the main stage this year but I will be there all day.
The best way to get around is to park at several different locations and use the shuttles that will be provided. The locations are the Milford Senior center on Jepson Drive, The Milford Post mall which is off of I-95, and at the Jonathan Law High school off of Bridgeport Avenue.
Just a word of caution: If you have animals (dogs specifically) don't bring them. There is a fine and usually there are some problems in some ways.
There will be water sold at the various vendors and different tents. Bring sun tan lotion cause it does tend to get hot there.
