On our last trip to Maui, we woke up before sunrise to drive to Hana. My husband stepped onto our balcony to check the temperature and saw the most beautiful sight! The moon was full, hanging over the ocean right outside our room. It was so big it looked like you could reach out and touch it. In the future, we will try to plan our trips around full moons. Close

A nice natural area is along the highway into Lahaina at Mile Marker 14 (+or- a mile in either direction). There are lots of trees, almost down to the water, which provide great places to hide from the sun and other people. The ocean is always calm and there are usually lots of fish to see in the sand channels between the coral heads.

We loved our trip to Maui, but it was too short. There is so much to see and do that it is hard to choose things. Plan ahead if you can on the most important things you want to do. The guys wanted to snorkel alot and we girls wanted to shop. Hana was a must, but if you suffer from motion sickness, take something.I was told to take Hawaiian ginger and it helped.
If you want a more authentic luau, stay away from some of the hotel ones put on (too hokey). Watch out for the timeshare traps. There are discount booths all over the island and will offer you stuff in return for some of your time. If you don't mind losing an hour or so some of the discounters offer a good deal on snorkel cruises. If you plan on bringing pineapple home, call Take Home Maui - they deliver right to the airport and prices were good. Look for their coupon in one of the booklets at the airport.

The most active, beautiful and spacious beach on Maui is D. T. Fleming. It has great sunsets at 6:00 P.M. You can see all of Molokai from here. It’s great if you stay at the Ritz Carlton (a 5 star hotel) nearby. On the left of Fleming’s beach is a holy place where ancient Hawaiian kings are buried. Dragon's Teeth is a point of lava rock that looks like a dragon's teeth. On top of Dragon's Teeth there are two blow holes. You can see Lanai from the other side of this point. Fleming’s Beach has the 3rd biggest waves on Maui next to Honolua Bay and Baldwin Beach. If you need a drink or anything else there is the Beach House cafe but it is expensive so bring your own if you want. You can have a cook out here. There are picnic tables. Be sure to follow the warning signs. If you do this is a fun place for your family. Close

This was great simply to race along the water and feel the wind and surf againest your face. If you want to snorkel or dive, this is not the boat for you. Snacks are provided.…Read More
