Best of all, while traveling along the trail that explorers Lewis and Clark took, you can enjoy your own adventure of a wine tasting tour in a few , or many, of the plethora of wonderful wineries that have srung up over the past 30 years.
Any time of year you visit, you will find something happening in the wineries. Visit in the summer, like I did, and you'll find open-air concerts being provided so you can not only sample the wine, shop in the gift shops of the various wineries but also enjoy an evening of entertainment under the stars as well.
They tell me that in the winter they celebrate with special chocolate confections and special red wines for a "chocolate and wine lovers" weekend and that every spring the wineries take the expression "roolout the barrel" literally . On the last weekend in April special tours have wine tasting directly from the barrel and the wine makers themsleves are there available to answer your questions as well.
On Thanksgiving weekend many of the wineries have special open houses with "New Wine Reserves" being offered. They will happily pack the travelers' purchases for travel. Just think how easy this would make your Christmas shopping!
The Tri-City area of the beautiful Washington state hasn't been given its full credit in the past. Over-shadowed by the "other" side of the state with its majestic mountains and lush greenery here in an area that was once a desert where a lovely garden of Eden has grown up. Nurtured by the continous sunshine and the many irrigation projects, vineyards and orchards have florished. Visit this side of the state and you won't be disappointed.

Three girlfriends and myself came to Pinestead about 6 years ago. We all had a great time. We have been going back once a year and have done some different things each time. It doesn't take us long to get there, just a few hours. We have seen some lighthouses, gone to the casinos, played mini-golf, done Christmas shopping at the nearby malls. Sometimes we just stay in our room and play cards or board games, watch movies, do some stitchery or read books. We just enjoy being together and we all seem to agree on what, where and when we do things.
The Reef looks out over the bay and it is so peaceful and beautiful. We haven't even wanted to go anywhere else.
I recommend this resort for a relaxing time for anyone.
