Visiting Aswan

Perched on the eastern bank of the Nile River, Aswan is southern Egypt's most sun-drenched city, which is one reason it's been a popular winter getaway since the 19th century. Visitors are inevitably seduced by the city's slow, relaxing pace. The "unfinished obelisk" and nearby Elephantine Island top Aswan's list of attractions. During the evening, the whole town resonates with Nubian dance and music performances.
