Konstancin Jeziorna is roughly about 20 kilometres from Warsaw's city centre and can be reached by public transport. Konstancin is very close to the Botanical Garden in Powsin so a trip to both attractions can easily be done in a day.The town is very popular with residents of Warsaw and other visitors as it is a kind of health resort and was named by Count Skórzewski's mother who changed the small village way back then into a luxurious town offering spas and thermal springs.The leading and most popular spa is the Motor System Revalidation Centre and has achieved many awards for excellence in Poland and other countries abroad.The Spa Park (Park Uzdrowiskowy) has a thermal brine spring and mineral graduation towers where visitors pay seven zloty to enter and they can then walk around breathing in damp air filled with micro crystals.This type of climate is very good for people who suffer from blocked sinuses.The town of Konstancin is pretty with its greenery and ancient villas set between trees. Some of the villas where built by illustrious architects in different styles and new villas have been added, built sympathetically to blend in with the old styles. This area outside Warsaw is where TV stars and actors live - the Bohemian side of the city. Neighbouring Jeziorna is situated by the Jeziorka River and was built in the 15th century. This particular area close by the river has a history relating to 19th century duels. They were not allowed in the city of Warsaw but could take place outside the borders. The most famous duel was between Casanova and a Polish nobleman who had a bit of a dodgy reputation. His name was F K Branicki.Konstancin - Jeziorna is worth a trip out of the city if only to see the romantic villas. Its also a nice area to cycle especially through the park. In fact, it isn't too far to cycle from Warsaw - depends how energetic you are feeling on the day. Close
