Hot Sulphur Springs is about 30 minutes by car from the Silver Creek resort area. As the name implies, this small town houses a series of hot sulphur springs. A resort and spa has been built over the springs (about $10 per person per day to soak). The spa has about 20 to 30 different hot spring pools. These pools range in temperature from about 80°F (about 27°C) to around 120°F (about 49°C). They vary in size from one-person areas to large pools (30 by 30 feet or more). Most fit about four to six comfortably.
Most of the hot spring pools are outside, but a few are in buildings. The springs are scattered across a small hill, and the resort has built boardwalks between the various pools. Notice that these boardwalks are outside in the cold around constant water vapor: this means they are cold and slippery! Bring sandals. Expect your towel to freeze solid and be useless.
The resort has locker rooms for day guests. These include bathrooms, lockers, and showers. The resort also provides towels and robes for a small cost.
Additionally, the resort has a spa with typical spa accoutrements: massages, facials, etc. I have not used the spa before, as the hot springs have always been sufficiently relaxing. Also, you can say overnight at the resort, but I have never done that, either.
With the little spa, few other people, and a quiet, natural atmosphere, these hot springs are the epitome of romantic! The only slight drawback is the smell. You will smell like sulphur after you leave (even after you bath). It’s not a strong or bad smell, but be prepared. Also, if you have jewelry, it will tarnish in the sulfur water.
