Parry Sound is a lovely little town, approx. 2-2½ hours north of Toronto along highway 400, in the 30,000 islands area of Georgian Bay.It's surrounded by beautiful cottage country, a 5-10 minute drive in any direction from the centre of town. You can take in Georgian Bay's beautiful islands from the air or on a dinner cruise, or on Canada's largest sight-seeing cruise ship - 550-passenger Island Queen.Although I myself am not a hockey fan, I'm told that if you are, you have to check out the Bobby Orr Hall Of Fame. It's a hockey museum with all sorts of pictures and other memorabilia about Bobby Orr, who was born in Parry Sound. The exhibit has some of his NHL rings, awards, and trophies and some of the jerseys he played in.I always stay at a friend's cottage on Otter Lake, which is about 10 minutes away, and you can either rent cottages in the area, or stay at a hotel, lodge, or guest house. The best time to visit is the summer, but there's still plenty going on during the winter too.Close
