Though not the spring-break hot spot it used to be, Panama City’s proximity to neighboring states like Georgia and Louisiana has helped sustain its popularity with Southerners. Visitors will find no shortage of restaurants, bars, and golf courses along these Gulf shores. Amusement parks, Zoo World Zoological and Botanical Park, and quirky attractions like Alvin’s Tropical Island Department Store—where the beachwear is for sale but the sharks and alligators aren’t—bring families out in droves.
