We started from Solapur(Maharashtra) at 7.30 A.M & reached Bijapur(Karnataka) at 9.15 A.M. Solapur-Bijapur by road is 100KM.Bhima River divides the two states which just 32 KM from Solapur.KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) has placed sign boards indicating how much distance you have to cover to reach a specific city enroute.Also you will find similar tourist friendly boards placed across the city which show the direction and distance of tourist attractions in Bijapur.The main tourist attraction is the GOL GUMBAZ,followed by Ibrahim Rouza,Bara Kaman,Gagan Mahal,Taj Bwadi,Mallik-e-Maidan,Juma Masjid's interior wall,Upli(Hyder) Buruj etc.ASI(Archealogical Survey of India) has listed out around 69 sites.You can start with Bara Kaman,it is a unfinished structure,it takes hardly 10 min to see.Then comes the main attraction GOL GUMBAZ.There is a ASI museum in the campus of GOL GUMBAZ which was previously Naqqar Khana.The museum has 6 Gallaries,Photography is prohibited.You can use your camera inside Gol Gumbaz.The Entrance ticket to Gol Gumbaz is Rs.5 for Indians & $2 for foreignersRs.2 as a entrance fee for Museum.Gallery-1--Hindu Deity Gallery-2--Jain Deity Gallery 3-Kannada,Islamic inscriptionGallery 4,5 & 6 are on first floor.Gallery 4,5 & 6 contains old maps of undivided India,Bijapur city,Islamic books and Crookery and Weapons used by Soldiers and some old paintings.Time 10.00 A.M. to 5.00 PMClosed on FridayThen you can go to Juma Masjid where you can see the wall decorated.Then comes GAGAN MAHAL in its ruins but well maintained.After that IBRAHIM ROUZA which a ticketed monument similar to Gol Gumbaz.Here camera is allowed.Closed on FridayFood:You can eat at Kamat Hotel. near GOL GUMBAZLodge:Adilshahi Lodge which is operated by Goverment body so no problem of getting cheated.Parking:Parking Fee for 4 wheelers is Rs.10,dont know the Parking fee for tourist buses.Close
