This past summer I stayed in a private home in Sea Grove Beach, FL, for one week with a friend's family. The location was wonderful! The house was right across the street from the beach. There were many places we could walk to eat and shop. Seaside, FL, was just down the road. The picturesque town was where the movie Me, Myself, and Irene was filmed. Along the beach in that area are tons of upscale condos and homes that look right out onto the water.
The house we stayed in was three levels; the top level had an enclosed deck that overlooked the ocean. This area is about a half-hour from the downtown area of Panama City, where you can play all day and night. It's also very close to Destin, FL, as well, where you can see all the five-star resorts and hotels, go shopping, and dine on any kind of food that strikes your fancy. This area is wonderful, because you can drive only a short while away and do whatever you want. Also, you can just stay by the beach and be a bum all day long if you wish. This is the perfect getaway for families and couples alike.
The location is perfect driving distance from anywhere in the mid-South to the Midwest. The best part of the vacation for me was that the house had a private pool, and I spent most of my days lounging in the pool, soaking up as much sun as I could. I definitley recommend this area as a perfect summer getaway for your family of two or 20.
