One thing about canal boats is that they don’t have a reverse and can be difficult to maneuver in tight spots. If you’re used to three-point turns, you may need to practice those five-point ones instead. Certain junctions can get very busy, and you'd be surprised how many boats are around, especially from July to September. But, once again, trying to get into a space with many other boats heading for the same spot is great fun and all adds to the experience, especially as all the locals sit outside the pubs and cafés, watching to see who loses it first.Close
