Accommodations: Stowe is filled with wonderful B&Bs, country inns, and full-service resorts sure to please any taste. Within each category there is a range of services and rates. You’ll find inexpensive, casual B&Bs and beautifully decorated, luxury B&Bs; moderate country inns and inns with fireplaces and hot tubs in each room. The Green Mountain Inn, Stone Hill Inn (B&B) and the Meadows at Stoweflake (condos) are the best places to stay.
Dining: Stowe offers the full spectrum of dining experiences from casual to fine dining and includes nearly all types of cuisine including Steaks, Seafood, Italian, German/Viennese, Thai, Mexican, Continental and Japanese. There are over 60 restaurants from which to choose, many with wonderful views and most with roaring fireplaces. Michael's on the Mountain, Blue Moon, Trattoria de Festa and Mes Ami are my favorites.
Things To Do: Stowe is truly a year-round resort offering a wide range of activities. In winter, there is downhill and cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, sleigh rides and horseback riding. Spring, summer, and fall offer hiking, golf, tennis, canoeing, and horseback riding. Fly-fishing for trout in spring is a local favorite, and hot-air ballooning over the mountains in summer is an exciting experience. Throughout the year, you can enjoy the Recreation Path which begins in town and winds its way 5.5 miles toward the mountain through the woods, beside bubbling brooks and next to open fields. Depending on the season you can walk it, bike it, cross-country ski it, rollerblade it or snow shoe it. It is wonderful introduction to the beauty of Stowe. There are sights to see, shops to explore, art galleries in which to browse and antiques stores to search for treasures.

Places to Eat at Smugglers: Hearth and Candle is an intimate, romantic restaurant great for a grownup night. Reservations are recommended. Also on site is Riga Bello's Pizzeria, Bootleggers' Lounge, Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop, Green Mountain Deli, and, of course, the Village Store with quick snacks. In the area, there are lots of restaurants both in Stowe (20 minutes through the Pass) and towards Jeffersonville, Johnsonville, and Morrisville in the other direction.
Swimming at Smugglers: Bring your own towels. There are a number of pools and two main pool areas that are guaranteed to entertain the kids. There’s Notchville Park, Little Smuggler's Lagoon, Rumrunner's Hideaway, waterslides, and even a giant rapid river ride.
Children's Programs These are offered primarily offered in the summer and the winter months, which are prime times for the resort. The programs are divided by age group. Treasurers, the daycare on site, is amazing, with some of the largest fish tanks I have ever seen in each of the rooms.
Tennis: Various surfaces are available. In the summer, an indoor tennis court is also available. In the winter, the indoor tennis court area becomes the Fun Zone. Petting Zoo: According to the note, the petting zoo animals went to Florida for the winter but would be back in Mid June for the season. By the pictures it looked like they had half a dozen animals for the kids to enjoy.

Downtown Stowe is a fun place to spend an afternoon. We took the family down for lunch and ended up spending hours browsing all the shops along the way. They have a general store that sells a little of everything! They had one store with a great sandwich shop and a bookstore. The real treat was going downstairs where they had literally hundreds of interesting things from kitchen gadgets to the ever popular souvenier T-shirts. I spent over an hour browsing and picking up great things I had never seen before. I could have easily spent another hour but my husband and kids wanted to press on. I'll definitely be visiting that store on our next visit!
There are also some great antique and handmade furniture stores that have one of a kind items. All in all, Stowe is a great place to spend an afternoon if you love shopping!

Stowe has a great diversity of ski terrain to satisfy both novices and experts. Since it was so late in the year (March 26th through April 2nd), the lower areas were beginning to show bare spots, and many of the beginner runs were closed for the season. If you are a beginner, I would recommend visiting in more prime time conditions to avoid the limited novice areas and the sometimes difficult conditions (bare/icy spots and heavy/slushy snow in the warm afternoons). Even with the limited novice runs, we found enough green and easy blue runs to satisfy everyone. The food service offerings are fairly limited and expensive. The parking is very close to the lifts; therefore, I would recommend packing a lunch and retrieving it when you are ready to eat.Close
