This city, situated in the state of Rajasthan has many fine forts and palaces. Many of the hotels are owned by the royal family. There are many things to do. It is interesting to visit the old forts and palaces. At many palaces, there are guides who tell us about the history of the palace, about its special features, it’s owners, etc. The Jaisalmer fort is a magnificent fort and should not be missed. We can visit havelis (Indian for bungalows). There are many havelis. For example – Patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli and Nathmal ki Haveli. Food is no problem here and anyone would like to eat the traditional food of the local people. We can spend a whole three days going to forts and palaces without losing interest in them. There is almost no means of transport here except the auto rickshaws and cars on hire. The cars take money according to kilometers. The rate per kilometer differs from car to car depending on the luxury in the car. Cars can be hired on the phone and one will always be ready at your doorstep if you call up at the offices. We need not care about which way to go. We can even just take the roads which we want to and we can explore the city with the old traditional buildings. Close

The hostile terrain notwithstanding the warmth and colour of people is simply overwhelming. One of the main draws is the daunting 12th century Jaisalmer Fort. The beautiful havelis which were built by wealthy merchants of Jaisalmer are yet another interesting aspect of the desert city. And you can let your eyes caress the sloping sand dunes while you ramble your way in a camel safari. The desert citadel is truly a golden fantasy in the Thar Desert. Bhati Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal, after whom the city finds its name, founded Jaisalmer in 1156 AD Close
