With the re-opening of Prague’s Golden Lane and the publication of flyingscot4’s brand new journal, “Prague -- A Meetin’ Place,” it seems an appropriate time to highlight this capital city. It doesn't hurt that UNESCO recently designated the Historic Center a World Heritage Site.

If you're planning on visiting this summer, make sure to attend The Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, which is said to be the world’s largest theater and scenic design event. While the quadrennial isn’t quite Shangri-la, keep in mind that they do have to impress when the next one isn’t scheduled for another 48 months. The event runs June 16-26th.

Prague Castle’s Golden Lane is open again after undergoing yearlong renovation. The miniature cottages of Golden Lane, which date from the 1560s, were originally built for the castle guard. They now house exhibits and shops. Gemma_C also recommended Prague Castle, where “the views from the vineyard and the gardens was amazing, you could see all over Prague.”

The Prague Astronomical Clock dates back to 1410 and is, amazingly, still working. Our own writur said that “The medieval clock by itself is gorgeous, but on the hour it puts on a good show with moving characters and loud bells. The hourly celebration is nothing spectacular when you compare it with what you see in Hollywood movies, but when you realize the mechanism is more than 500 years old, it becomes pretty impressive.”

And since we missed the celebration, here’s a video of the light show that marked its 600th Anniversary.

For a break, head over to the closest Bohemia Bagel, a chain highly recommended by dantheman85. He claimed “the Bagels sell the best burgers in the whole city.”

And, as it's rumored that the future George Lucas “Star Wars” TV series may shoot in Prague, you can look at our last photo as more than a happy coincidence.
