Not all of us are good at keeping regular resolutions -- the gym is so crowded this week! -- so we also like to make “travel resolutions” for the New Year. This can be as simple as a list of places to go, or more complex, like your experiences or milestones you hope to achieve. Here are a few of ours, but if you have any resolutions, we’d love to hear about them in the comments.
Explore Mexico More: The U.S.’s neighbor to the south was hit hard by bad press in 2010, but much of the country is safe and is eager to cater to tourists. While the over-the-top qualities of Cancun are not for everyone, the relatively sedate charms of Tulum are less than an hour away. Even more intriguing is Mexico City, a fascinating metropolis that’s equal parts L.A. and Madrid.
Stay at Home(s): 2010 saw an explosion in sites that cater to travelers looking for neat lodging experiences outside of a hotel stay. Airbnb and Roomarama offer tiny bungalows and slick digs alike for nightly rentals. As hotel deals get sparser thanks to a predicted uptick in the economy, home stays will likely emerge as a fun alternative, and we’d like to give them a shot.
Take City Breaks: 2010 was the year of the big single trip, but we think 2011 will be more about getting away for weekends. There are plenty of burgs we hope to grace with our presence in 2011, from London to Lima. Plus, bite-size getaways are easier on the pocketbook.
So, what do you hope to see and do in 2011? Leave us a note in the comments.

I am resolving to explore more culture, languages, and people on my trip to Europe in April. I always resolve to walk more and eat better, but the sweets call my name all the time!
