Got a second? We can’t wait for you to try out the features we just launched. From IgoUgo Forums to the Best of IgoUgo page to a new journal feature, we have quite a few changes to announce.
They have a new look and prominence and, for the first time ever, they’re integrated into IgoUgo. That means that if you’re registered for IgoUgo, you’re registered for our Forums: you can begin posting topics, answering questions, and connecting with other travelers immediately, and your posts will display your member name. Plus, you can now access the Forums from any destination page (in the left column) or from the Share page. Full disclosure: as you’ll see posted in our new Technical Issues Forum, we’re currently fixing an issue that sometimes crops up when writing a long Forum post. If you’re taking your time crafting a post, please save your work before submitting your topic so you can re-submit if need be.
Best of IgoUgo
We’ve overhauled and simplified this section based on your feedback, and you’ll now see both editor picks and community picks (“Our Picks” and “Your Picks”) featured as the Best of IgoUgo. Covering journals, reviews, experiences, and photos, the “Our Picks” tab displays the latest editor picks; the “Your Picks” tab, the content most Cheered by members.
We’ve also simplified IgoUgo’s rating system to make it more transparent. Where previously IgoUgo editors “graded” a review on a 1-5 scale, they’ll now award top-quality reviews Best of IgoUgo status (other reviews will not receive a rating). Best of IgoUgo reviews are equivalent to reviews rated 4-5 previously, and all existing reviews with 4 or 5 ratings have been converted to Best of IgoUgo reviews. Additionally, you can see Best of IgoUgo designations on individual reviews and experiences, so you’ll know exactly which ones got top honors. And with our new Honors columns, you can easily track both the Best of IgoUgo designations you receive from editors and Cheers you receive from members.
You’ll also see that all previous Top-Rated journals now display a Best of IgoUgo badge. Going forward, journals with at least five reviews, three of which boast Best of IgoUgo status, become Best of IgoUgo journals. This means you’ll no longer be left wondering whether your journal’s reviews have the 3.8 average needed to snag Top-Rated status; you’ll know exactly what content has received Best of IgoUgo status, and why.
GO Points Guidelines
As we’ve simplified our rating system, we’ve done the same for our reward system. Please take a look at the complete guidelines for more details, but we think you’ll like that top journals still receive the same mega-bonus—and that top reviews and photos now earn even more GO Points.
Recent Content Tickers
Besides IgoUgo’s top journals, reviews, experiences, and photos, something else you’ll notice on the Best of IgoUgo page are links to new-content tickers. There you’ll see the latest content submitted to IgoUgo, right as it rolls in. We’re excited to show you what’s new in real time, and we hope the lists will give you something to Cheer about!
Journal Cover Photos
When you’re logged in and viewing your own journals, you can now click “Change Cover Photo” to select which photo appears beside your journal on the site. No more photos of disheveled hotel rooms or hostel bathrooms fronting exotic trips! (Unless, of course, you deem it so; then it’s totally acceptable.)
Beta Batch Photo Upload
You asked to lend input, and you’ve got it: our batch photo uploader is so new we’re not even done with it, but we’d like your recommendations before we finish. Give it a try by uploading up to 50 photos at once, and then let us know how it goes! Please note, though, that the uploader is not yet compatible with Macs.
As always, we want to know what you think about all these changes, so please feel free to leave your comments on the brand-new Forums or to contact us directly.
