Westfield Shopping Centre
In the large Westfield shopping centre in Derby on the second level is a large area with several eating options around a large number of table and seats. This means that you can sit with a group of friend s in the same seating area and all eat different foods from different stalls of mini shops which I think is a great idea.
WHAT CAN I EAT HERE?
Bagel Nash: This is more for breakfast or a snack as they serve coffee and great freshly baked bagels and also some great tasting cakes and a specially yummy cheesecake.
Burger King; Not a franchise I eat at but it is there for those who like their food.
Hani Puri: This shop gets my custom quite a bit. They are a sort of Middle eastern eatery and serve food based on a range of cuisines from Persia to India and Pakistan. I love the Arabic Pilau and my husband enjoys the Char grilled kebabs and where I prefer the chicken tikka and you can watch they prepare and cook these on a central tava or griddle. There are plenty of vegetarian dishes here too.
Harpers: This place offers mainly British food. They serve breakfasts and then for lunches you can choose from hand made pies like Steak and Kidney, Steak and mushroom and Lamb and mint as well as a choice of stews, hot puddings, special children's meals and also some vegetarian options. I have not ever eaten anything from here but my husband enjoys the pies and quite often has one.
Hey Potato: Pretty obvious what they serve here I would think jackets, wedges and more with toppings that offer healthy eating options such as salmon & cream cheese; spinach & mushroom korma; prawn pesto and Italian chicken with peppers as well as fresh salads. They are pretty good and one I do visit from time to time when I don’t feel like Middle Eastern.
KFC: Yes Kentucky Fried Chicken and it is one I would have to be paid to go to but others seem to enjoy fried chicken bits – not for me.
Pasta 4U: No prizes for guessing what it offered here. This is an Italian and it is okay but I am not a fan of eating Italian when out as we have it a lot at home. My step daughter quite likes the food here especially for my grandsons.
Subway: This is as other Subways and once again .This is one I do visit from time to time as I like the fillings and find the sandwiches or filled rolls quite a healthy and refreshing option and a reasonable price too.
Tasty Plaice: This is a fish and chippie and I have never eaten there so can’t say how good or bad they are.
Yangtze Thai Food Bar: This is another favourite of my family as it offers tasty food but also a lot of variety. Here you can chose your own noodles from thick Udon to thin vermicelli then add sauces and then select your meat, ,fish or seafood to go with them. They also have some pretty good Thai fish cakes and Pad Thai or Thai curries so this place gets a lot of our custom.
In this same area is a Nandos restaurant and also not far from here is one of the coffee shops but I forget which one, it could be Costa or another. I have not been to either but my step son and girlfriend go to the Nandos quite a lot as they enjoy the cinema in this centre as it has sofa and comfortable seats and they eat in Nandos before they go to the film.
I like the Eat Central area as it gives plenty of choice and means I can choose something tasty and spicy even if I meet up with a friend who will only eat burgers or KFC and we can eat together and get drinks from yet another stall.
IT does get a bit noisy at times with all the different stores taking orders and the number of seats in the area plus the piped music being played but it is quick and handy and offers a good range of food options for everyone.
When it is busy the tables can be a bit messy as you are meant to clear your own stuff away but some people don't bother and of course spills are left for the staff to wipe up.
