I walked off of the ferry during one of the busiest days of the summer, where one could barely walk down the streets. I was tired, hungry, and irritable with lines out of the door of every restaurant I passed.
As I crept up the east end of town I found this cute little restaurant tucked up an alley way. Its name is Karoo Kafe, it was an unexpected treat, not only because their line was under control. They serve South African food, which to my surprise has a complex taste with a smooth finish.
That night I chose to eat the Cape Malay Stew, a beautiful array of vegetables mixed with chicken seasoned in a delicate curry coconut broth served over rice. And you know that kept me coming back for more, and one was not better than the other. It was a very unique surprising experience. I highly recommend this to everyone.
They do have a website www.karookafe.com, it is where I go to get my homemade Karoo sauces!
