Labour Weekend in Forster, NSW - 2009

Forster, NSW Photo, New South Wales, Australia

On the Labour Day long weekend we went to Forster.

A friends kid we know was participating in the nipper (junior lifesavers) carnival that was being held there and we hadn’t been there for a while so thought it would nice to see if anything had changed during our absence.

Our friends stayed at the Forster foreshore camping ground, in a cabin, and we rented an apartment at The Marina Apartments. Lucky we didn’t decide to camp – the weather was cold, wet and miserable – lucky we also took along some warmer clothes too.

On the Saturday we went to the markets in the morning (went home early as it was going to rain), then we went to the beach to watch our friends son participate in the ironman competition. The beach wasn’t that great as the sun wasn’t out and it was cooler than expected, but at least it wasn’t raining and blowing a gale.

That night we went around to the camping ground to have dinner with the others.

Sunday’s weather was colder than Saturdays but we still went to the beach to watch Our friends son compete. We got there a little late and had missed most of his events, which he’d done pretty well in, but we did manage to catch him in the relay race and the combined swim/board race. Not a bad performance.

That night was the rugby league grand final night, Melbourne Storm vs The Parramatta Eels and the others came around to our apartment. We got take out for dinner and after that Mum and the kids didn’t stay long as the kids got bored, Dale and Dad pissed of down to the pub to watch the end of it and I enjoyed an hour or so of peace.
