On the weekend of August 21st-23rd Dale and I went to Manly for the weekend. It was just a last minute decision.
We stayed at the Sebel Apartments which was really nice.
On the Saturday we went exploring the markets which were just a walk down the road from the apartments. There was a good mix of wares for sale – antiques, clothes (new and second hand) and lots of other miscellaneous item.
Then we went to the Manly Oceanworld which is located on the harbour side of Manly – Manly is fortunate to have water on both sides - , to the far end of the beach. We haven’t been there for a while, it’s only small and cheaper to visit then the Sydney Aquarium – it has the usual arrange of fish in tank displays, as well as reptiles and crocs – spent a great couple of hours here.
Lastly we went back to the ocean side of Manly and went for a walk around the shore and around the headlands. What a great way to spend the afternoon. The walk took around the water, past the lovely waterside homes, around coves, out to the headlands and along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. We didn’t go too far along the cliffs, but you could do the circuit around to the harbour if you wanted.
That night we went out for a Thai dinner – really yummy.
The following morning, after we checked out, we went and had breakfast on Manly wharf. From there we decided to travel further up the beaches to have a look – great idea but we didn’t know that you have to pay to park in the beach car parks and we didn’t want to stay, just wanted to look, so we got jack with that idea and hightailed it out of there to the Hawkesbury River to a small waterside town called Brooklyn where we had lunch at the pub – great food and the beers were enjoyable too - and Dale did a spot of fishing.
