Hotel Antiguos, San Martin de los Andes

I bought my reservation for this hotel over the Internet, and it turned out to be far better than expected. It resulted to be a very nice small 3 star hotel, that costs one third of what I would have paid at a leading 4 star hotel only a few blocks away. They also own a local travel agency. Their web pages are:

Rates change constantly up and down depending on the season and the high or low demmand, so check their rates and special packages on their web page. Normally lower rates apply during the Spring season for long stays and higher rates apply during the ski season.

I understand that the prices given in their web page for double occupancy include dinner in a nearby restaurant. An average meal in San Martin de los Andes costs some 15 dollars, excluding drinks, although I managed to eat for less than that at the Cafe de la Plaza. San Martin de los Andes is a high class tourist resort. While I was there an international snowboard competition was taking place at their Chapelco ski center.

The package at the hotel Antiguos (single room occupancy) included 5 nights at the hotel, Brazilian breakfast (fruit, fruit salad, yoghurt, corn flakes, ham, cheese, croissants and other food), a very comfortable room with cable TV, and the convenience of having their travel agency in the same building. They included in the package the tours to Lake Huechulaufquen (navigation cost an additional 20 dollars), Chapelco (excluding the chairlift) and Quila Quina, a VERY nice short navigation of Lake Lacar. I bought separately the 7-lake tour to Villa La Angostura (28 dollars) and the navigation of lake Huechulaufquen (19 dollars)

This new hotel is only one year old, has only twelve rooms wtih private bathroom including hydromassage. I am convinced that this is the best price value in San Martin de los Andes.

The hotel is located only 2 blocks away from beautiful lake Lacar, where you can board tours to navigate the lake, and only a block and a half away from the local bus station, where buses of Via Bariloche, Crucero del Norte and Flecha Bus, three of the leading bus companies in Argentina, arrive.

A trip on tje classic bed service with hot meals on board from Cordoba or Buenos Aires is costing 300 pesos, less than 85 dollars, for a 22 hour trip. I arrived so well rested that I set off immediately to explore the area with my photo camera.

This hotel offers the comfort and friendlines that you generally find in the Andes in Southern Argentina.

Just have a look at the photos and start planning and enjoying your next trip to Southern Argentina.
