CAF is a great non-profit organization that gives many walking tours in Chicago and surrounding towns of interest. One of those towns is our town, Evanston IL, a city on Lake Michigan with beautiful architecture, including many "painted ladies", Victorian homes in delightful color. We've take a couple of the tours, including "Evanston Along the Lake" and "Evanston Dwntown". The docents are always very well-informed and interesting. The tours are about $15 for non-members. You can find them on the 'net - just google Chicago Architecture Foundation.
