The shopping consultant aboard the ship is your resource for insider tips and disount VIP passes to stores on shore. On the Sunday (the day at sea) there was a port and shopping talk in the afternoon. The first thing that annoyed me was that they didn't start anywhere close to on time, but kept waiting in case more people came. The second thing that annoyed me was that they advertised that all guests attending would receive a free diamond charm bracelet for attending - which actually was a coupon to redeem on shore if you were lucky enough to get one. There was a draw for a diamond pendant that you had to be present to win which seemed legitimate. The third thing that annoyed me was the talk was almost entirely geared towards jewellery and watches.
If you were interested in purchasing jewellery than this talk provided you with a ton of information on where to go and what to look out for. As well, you could visit the consultant later to get a VIP discount card for a few stores.
I was hoping for a more well-rounded information session on all kinds of shopping. Clothing, the straw markets, etc were only briefly talked about. The whole talk was broadcast on the TV channel several times in case you missed the live talk.
