My Choices for Lima City...

Museo Larco, Lima - Peru Photo - Lima, Peru

I had arrived to Lima the afternoon before from Cusco and didn´t had time to even plan my day as I was so tired...
I just wanted to have two things done that day, as I thought that Lima was worth only one day and had already plans to leave the next day to the amazon area..
Woke up at around 9 so I could be at the Larco Museum at 10 tops - Lima has the best museums, so I was told to go at least to one of them, and everyone recommended Museo Larco, in Pueblo Libre district.
Museo Larco is located in a huge colonial house up in a little hill (I found out later that it was a precolumbian pyramid).. The first look at the museum was breathtaking, the house surrounded by the most beautiful gardens with buganvileas I have ever seen.
I learned at the museum about the Inca culture, the mochicas and chimu in the north coast, so as I always say, it was an eyeopener for me. I decided to visit many other cities after my visit to this museum.
The gold and silver exhibition was one of the highlights of the museum, there is an incredible pectoral made of gold that I don´t even know how to describe it. Just wow.
After visiting the rest of the exhibition, we were a little tired and went back to the gardens to get a coffee at the cafe del museo and after looking at the menu we decided to have lunch there.. The restaurant was too a complete new experience. We were at the terrace, getting the most beautful view, tasting the most yummy meal in my whole trip to Peru. We tried the peruvian dishes, like cebiche and lomo saltado, but we also get to try the specials from the chef (Gaston Acurio - from Astrid & Gaston) a duck risotto I will never forget and a "sudado" which was seabass steamed with yucas, tomatos, and rice... Excellent meal...
We didn´t realized it was already 3 pm so we grabbed our things and went back to Miraflores to see Huaca Pucllana, an archaeological site that is so well preserved to really understand it all.. Completely different from what I have seen in Cusco.
We hired a local guide for about $4 and then went back to the hotel to rest before dinner...
What a great day!
