Great Daytona Beach Vacation

Daytona Beach ShorelineMore Photos

My parents live in Ormond Beach (three miles from Daytona Beach) but I haven't been able to visit in several years as I have two young girls. We visited the area Memorial Day weekend to relax and hang out with the grand parents and of course, go to the beach.
We parked up at the beach approach at Neptune Ave. a mile north of Granada Blvd. (SR 40) in Ormond Beach as it is close to my parents' house. The beaches were very clean and the water was crystal clear. The surf was very calm this day so my daughters were happy to be able to splash and jump in the surf. It was nice to relax and enjoy ourselves and I felt safe knowing that there were lifeguards stationed along the shoreline. There were families everywhere and in no time my girls met some new friends from Tennessee. We spent several hours on the beach that day, picking up coquina shells to make shell bracelets, building sand castles and enjoying ice cream from a passing by beach vendor. There are no cars allowed on the beach in this section of Ormond Beach. This area of Florida is truly a hidden treasure and we are already planning to go back again soon.
