There is no real category for this but these cemeteries are central figures in the history of New Bern. One is Cedar Grove, a very old cemetery which has all the aspects you would expect in an old southern cemetery. The other is the National Cemetery, which is very military in feel as you can imagine. In one you have Confederate soldiers from New Bern and surrounding North Carolina areas and the other you have Union soldiers from the civil war. It is worth an hour to visit both. You will get a good perspective on the division that existed and in some respects still does.
