Would you like to travel back 5 centuries in Mexican history while staying at a luxurious hotel? This is what the Hacienda Jurica hotel offers you in Querétaro. I really enjoyed eating in the well-set dining room while enjoying the view of its colonial architecture and the countryside, and only 5 minutes away from the industrial park of Querétaro.
With the exception of Cancun, where there are fantastic five (and six) star hotels everywhere, this is one of the most beautiful five-star hotels I have seen in Mexico.
Set up in the countryside, on what used to be a ranch, property 5 centuries ago of the Viceroy of the Spanish Royal Crown, it is completely different from what I am accustomed to seeing.
It is located within a magnificent 16th century ranch converted into a hotel, that initially belonged to Spanish Viceroy or Governor Luis de Velasco, and has a classical colonial architecture of volcanic rock arches and walls, that will make you fly with your imagination to the times of the Spanish Conquest. It has meeting and banquet rooms and large green spaces where you can hold incredible banquets.
Of course, it has local and international cuisine, where you can enjoy many of the typical Mexican delicacies. Hacienda Jurica has the only mini-golf course in Querétaro, and many other amenities, such as tennis, squash, biliard, and even soccer facilities.
This hotel has 182 rooms and suites. I must say: I really enjoyed it.
By now you must have noticed that I prefer hotels out-of-town, but near enough to get to the downtown in a matter of minutes.
The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool, a lovely park, and access to the Internet for their guests. It also has a gift shop, although I am reluctant to buy gifts at hotels, because nearly always they turn out to be more expensive.
Hacienda Jurica is my very best option for Querétaro. Consider it when you visit this historical area. No, it probably will not be cheap, a room will cost some 110 to 120 dollars per night, while other five-star hotels cost less than $80, but it will be well worth its price. And its cuisine is really fantastic.
HOLIDAY INN has two hotels in Querétaro, one in the historical center of the city (5 de Febrero 110) that costs some $130 per night and the other one in the Zona Diamante (Diamond Zone, located on the old road to the airport) that costs about 30 percent less. Both are five-star hotels, but I would definitely stay at Hacienda Jurica, to enjoy the countryside.
The hotel Real de Minas (also five stars and costing some $90 per night) is another option you might want to consider.
Enjoy your stay in central Mexico.
