Torrevieja is located on the Costa Brava coast of Spain between Alicante and Cartagena.
The beach area is lovely and there were many people on the sand creating works of art from it.
There are lots of high-rise buildings here which spoil the area to an extent, but the beach is nice and the views great. There are lots of restaurants and cafes located along the promenade, so you can sip your coffee or eat your ice cream with views over the sea.
Everyone we dealt with could speak very good English, so there is not too much of a language issue here.
When we were there they had an enormous open-air market, which apparently is one of the largest in Spain. We had great fun wandering round the market stalls looking at everything on offer. Some of it was rubbish of course, but there was some good stuff too.
There is a large shopping area, but no malls, but the streets are very nice and clean. There is a lovely town square area with flower beds and places to sit and watch the world go by.
