The weather was about ten degrees cooler than normal so we did not make use of the pool, hot tub, or beach although I did walk the beach every morning. There are a number of excellent restaurants nearby within a 2 - 15 mile distance, especially if you like seafood. Downtown St. Petersburg is only a thirty minute drive and we visited The Fine Art and Holocaust Museums. For those that grew up in NYC and remember the Jewish delis that were a staple of the city there is one named Too Jays within two blocks of the art museum that has a real taste of NYC, including egg creams and black and white cookies. For those that like to shop the Greek Village in Tarpon Springs had some very nice boutiques and a number of Greek restaurants. There is an excellent mall between Clearwater and Tarpon Springs with an indoor ice skating rink and my wife's favorite department store, Dillards. There is another boutique shopping area at Treasure Island that includes a large boardwalk. We took a cruise out of Tampa, about 40 minutes away, and did not get to see much of the city. We did manage a drive around Bayshore Drive which is very picturesque and has some magnificent homes.
