Franschhoek is most known for its wine industry. The wine route counts some of the most exclusive wine estates. Like in Stellenbosch and Paarl, these wine estates are open for tastings and cellar tours. Again, some of the estates are closed on Sundays.
Just two of the cellars you can visit are la Motte and Boschendal. Have a tasting and book a cellar tour, where experts explain you exactly all the phases of the art of winemaking. So, if you want to relax, enjoy great food, and treat yourself to a great bottle of wine, Franschhoek is the place to be!
The best thing about wine tasting is that you, for a small fee, can taste the best wines of South Africa or even in the world. Some of the wines simply cost many, many dollars or Euros in the shop or in a restaurant.
Take note that most wine estates close earlier on Saturdays and are not open on Sundays due to religious reasons! So please check before you head out for that wonderful estate.
