There's simply a staggering number of small and mid-sized water craft at Marina del Rey. The scenic view of thousands of white masts bobbing against the azure sky is jaw-dropping. Then, there's the aroma of salt water and the sound of the sea gulls calling to one another. If you never leave the car, if you only have 10 minutes to spare, this scene is worth the visit. And yet, you could visit Marina del Rey every day for a month and have a different experience. The area is truly a "restaurant row," with seafood, of course, as one of the highlights, but with many other cuisines featured, as well. Most of the restaurants feature open-air dining with a view of the marina. Scenic Fisherman's Village is a nautical-themed shopping area with cute stores just meant for browsing. A greenbelt-type park flanks the road through Marina del Rey, giving you an attractive setting if you wish to keep in shape by taking a jog or a walk during your travels. Scheduled special events, such as open-air concerts, occur throughout the year. Their schedule can be found on the Internet.
