Whyte Avenue (Old Strathcona)

Warning! Weekends along Whyte Avenue are very busy. If you thrive on crowds and have patience, then go for it. If you like it a bit quieter, go during the week or early evening. Most shops are open late on weekdays, when you will be able to browse longer!

My faves are Beadworks (make-your-own jewelry), Wee Book Inn (second-hand books), Princess Theater (art-house films), and Second Cup (vanilla-bean lattes).

If you like antiques, you can find a few shops on the south side of Whyte around 101 Street, and between 109 and 107 Streets, look for the Black Swan. Michelle is the owner has been in this business for long enough to know her stuff.

For clothes of the Goth/Celtic genre, try Sanctuary (1 block south of Whyte between 104 and 103 Streets - if you walk through the parking lot between Yoga Loft and The Commercial Hotel, you'll see it ahead).

For Horror, Cult, and Anime try Oddities just across from the Black Swan on 108 Street.
