Last year we stayed at Tree Tops at the Fairway. What a terrible experience we had! We were reluctant to try again, but after being assured that we would be in a new four-bedroom unit, we decided to give the Villas a try. Let me tell you, it's like the other reviews of the place say. If you get one of the 3800's or some of the 3400's, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, you might want to rethink your stay. The four-bedroom units are between 2 and 7 years old and much, much nicer than the older units built long ago. These are very spacious and comfortable. There were 9 of us in the unit that sleeps 12, so we had plenty of room. The bedrooms are very spacious and the master suite has a sauna and Jacuzzi in it as well as an electric fireplace. (That's really neat once you figure out how to use it, as the directions for it, as well as most things in the unit, are missing.) The lock-off fourth bedroom also served as a studio/one-bedroom. It also has the fireplace, sauna and Jacuzzi, and separate entrance. The living room has a fireplace, sofa chairs, and TV. The kitchen is very large and backed up by an efficiency one in the lock-off. That also gives you a full refrigerator and mini fridge for you food. The one negative is that the dining area table only seats six, but there is a breakfast-bar area, which the grandkids enjoyed. The second bedroom has a queen with its own TV and the third has two full beds with a TV. There is also a powder room off the living area and a third bath between the second and third bedrooms. There was a laundry area on the second floor in the bath area and also one in the fourth bedroom area as well, so there was no problem doing your laundry.
We got a midweek cleaning service, which, as we understood from the owners we spoke to, doesn't happen in the older units. The pools were very nice and the outdoor ones were open over the weekend we stayed (9/16). There are also activities each day for the kids, and many sightseeing activities are offered at a nominal charge through the resort.
There are many restaurants in the area as well as on the resort itself. If you eat on the resort, be sure and go to Wintergreens, but go hungry, because you won't leave that way!
The only problems we had were that the main fitness center has several broken pieces of equipment, although it was never really busy, and the arcade had many games that were out of order, which was disappointing to me, as I'm a video-game junkie! Also, they have a really neat system of a charge card for the resort, so you can give one to your kids and not worry about them carrying money and also limit what they spend. It works in the arcade, snack bars, and other areas of the resort.
Check-in and -out was very easy. But I was disappointed in that we were never called to take a sales preview (yeah, right!). That was the first time that has ever happened to us!
