From north to south along the coast, Manarola is the fourth town in the Cinque Terre. It may also be the most overlooked town of the five as it is SO small. My recommendation is to arrive in the evening before sunset and start your climb from the train station through town. There is really just one main street for you to follow back and forth up the hillside. At the top we found a small church and some children playing with a soccer ball.
From the top, follow a path up into the vineyards (looking up from the station you'll be on the left side of town). Along the trail you'll find yourself a nice bench to sit upon as well as a few small shrines. Sit and watch the sunset; this is a beautiful view of the picture-perfect town of Manarola.
