Perth Stories and Tips

Esperance Western Australia

PERTH

Pacific International Suites
This was a great property in an excellent location, very accessible to public transport and within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.

The rooms were spacious and well presented -- with modern décor (having only been open for about a year). However, I think this would be more suited to a business traveler, which is what their main market seems to be.

Miss Mauds Swedish Hotel
This hotel is fairly old, but well known throughout Perth for its famous breakfasts. It has a very homey atmosphere and would be great for someone travelling alone. The rooms are just going through refurbishment and will look fantastic once this has finished.

Great Western Coach Tours
This was an excellent way to see the city, especially if there is only limited time in Perth. The driver was very knowledgeable and gave travellers an insight to the history of Perth.

The Perth Mint
This is the factory where the gold is brought after it has been mined. There are two shows available that teach visitors the history surrounding the gold and the miners, and how the gold is processed and prepared to be exported. The staff was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend a visit.

Skywest Airlines
Although this was only a short flight to Esperance, I was very impressed with the flight. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the meals were great.

ESPERANCE, population 13,000

Located on the south coast of Western Australia, about a nine-hour drive from Perth, Esperance is a picturesque town nestled on the shores of Esperance Bay. I would recommend Esperance to families or older travelers. It is a great stopover on the way to Perth or if there a people interested in wildflowers. It is also a popular holiday destination for miners, especially around the Christmas period.

Esperance Seaside Apartments
This was a great property, and I would highly recommend it to both families and business travellers. Each apartment was very spacious and well furnished and was situated across the road from the beach, which gave excellent views from the second floor.

Mackenzies Island Cruises
This was a half-day cruise out to the surrounding islands around Esperance, showing the local wildlife and the history of the Esperance Port. However, I would not recommend anyone to go on the cruise if they suffer from seasickness!!!

Esperance Eco Discovery Tours
This tour was the highlight of the trip. It was an excellent way to see all the beautiful beaches of the area. There was also an option of sand-boarding on the huge sand dunes that are famous in the area. The tour guide was excellent and adapted the tour to suit the age group he was with. I would allow at least half a day and would highly recommend it.
