The Mountainside Villas are the "upper crust" of Massanutten Resorts accommodations. We stayed in unit 13. The place was terrific. It is a two-story two-bedroom townhouse with two sleeper sofas. There is a full kitchen with all of the appliances and utensils any normal kitchen would have, including a fridge with ice maker and filtered water. (Don't drink from the tap. The water always seemed cloudy.) On the far side of the kitchen is an in-counter grill, which is really handy when you want to ability to grill while on vacation. The counter space is huge all around. The dining room has a large oak table that seats eight.
The floor plan is wide open. You can easily see from the kitchen into the dining room into the living room. The living room is furnished with a sleeper sofa and a reclining loveseat, as well as a chair and ottoman. It is the only carpeted area downstairs besides the runner in the entry hall. The TV seems very far away and is much too small compared to other resorts of similar stature that I've visited in Florida and Myrtle Beach. A VCR is supplied. There is also an electric fireplace that really cranks out some serious heat. The ceiling is open up to the second floor in the living room, and the windows climb up to take up the space.
If you go out the sliding door in the dining room, you will find yourself on a concrete patio with a view of a small wood and the first hole of their 18-hole golf course. During dusk, the deer will be plentiful. They are generally unafraid of people as long as we are quiet and don't make sudden moves. (I got within 3 feet of one before she got skittish and backed away.)
There is also a bathroom downstairs with the most enormous resort whirlpool tub I have ever seen! What a treat! And, get this, there was even a SAUNA in the bathroom. Upstairs is a little loft area with the second sofa sleeper and a table with two chairs. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed with a hard, squeaky mattress. The other bedroom has two twin beds. Both rooms have ample closet and dresser space, and the master bedroom has a TV. The shower is also upstairs. Tall people will feel a little cramped in the shower, but the room itself is adequately sized.
The terrain is VERY hilly, and many units have many steps. Units 1-30 have fewer steps. Our room only had a slight hill to walk to our door. The laundry facility is right next to the lobby area.
