Well what a fantastic experince this weekend getaway was! From the moment we checked in till we checked out, it was super!
When we arrived at the check-in at the main clubhouse, which was an awesome with cathedral ceilings made with the original timbers of the first building (which was destroyed by fire and rebuilt--definitely full of history), floors of wood, and a spectacular fireplace. The staff that checked us in were proficent and friendly and on top of their game.
When we arrived in our rooms I couldn't believe it--it was like being at home! The accommodations were spotless, the furniture was top-notch, and the deck (which every unit has) includes deck furniture, an entrance from the bedroom and living room, and a wonderful view of the bay. One very unique aspect of the room was that they had journals that you could fill out while you where there, so as to leave information for the next visitor--they went back over the early 1990s; some of the entries were very informative for a lot of good times in the area. What a smart idea!
On-site there are great amenities, including a million-dollar fitness center, an indoor pool (outdoor too), water aerobics class everyday at no charge, adult swims (which is nice sometimes), a fantastic golf course, and tennis as well!
If you are adventurous you could take a walk out to the lighthouse which is just off the property, or walk around the town of Camden. At that time of the year they are all set for Christmas and in the evening every tree in the town was lit with white lights. I myself have never seen anything so beautiful! There is lots of great shopping within walking distance from the resort, or a short drive. Camden has a lot of specialty shops, antiques stores, theaters, interesting landmarks, and a homemade cheese factory.
Well, all I can say is that we are going back next year in December with the kids and I can't wait.
