Located off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Nellysford, VA, the Wintergreen Winery is very near the Wintergreen Resort.
The place is in a small house on the bank of a beautiful creek. We arrived on July 4th, when they had some acoustic music and food being sold for a July 4th event.
Wintergreen has a variety of wines to taste. Most interesting to me was that they allowed us to taste three different chardonnays, which allowed us to taste not only the difference between stainless steel and oak barrel winemaking, but also the difference between different years. Their Thomas Nelson White is a nice, sweeter blend of white wines.
They also sell a big variety of gourmet foods.
I was not overwhelmed by the wines, but that is largely a taste issue. You may love them, especially if you enjoy a Chardonnay or a Cabernet Franc, which they also pay particular attention to.
