Afton Mountain is a tiny winery in Afton, Virginia just off the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline drive, east of Waynesboro, Virginia. It's an easy winery to visit in combination with Vertias, Oakencroft, Wintergreen and Cardinal Point.
We arrived at the winery as they were preparing a July Fourth celebration with food, live music and other entertainment. We declined to pay the $5 fee for the event and instead spent 20 minutes or so tasting their wines. As I said, Afton Mountain is a small winery, and they have only a few wines, which include a couple of my favorites, a Gewürtztraminer and a Reisling. They have a small tasting room where we enjoyed the wines with a number of other folks. There is no tasting fee and I enjoyed the wines enough to leave with three bottles.
Afton Mountain does not have a web site that I am aware of, but you can read about it and other Virginia wines at this website.
