We travel to Staunton often. Great restaurants, nice places for just walking and enjoying the old town atmosphere. The college of Mary Washington has a beautiful campus. There is a Shakespeare theatre in the downtown area. The public park is the central gathering area for events on major holidays. If you can catch a function, it is a real family treat. If not, it is just a good place to hang out. Large, with lots of trees, playgrounds, picnic areas. There is also a golf course at the park. The mountains are nearby; pack a picnic lunch and go up on the parkway for lunch. Enjoy the view from above. Drive up at night and catch the city lights. Hike one of the many trails. Wonderful!!!
