San Juan Stories and Tips

Shoppers' Haven

In San Juan there is lots of shopping sidewinding through all the small streets, and the streets are very busy, especially when the cruise ships are in. A good thing to remember when you are in the jewelry stores: if you see a boat in port, remember the name - if they ask what ship you’re on, pop the name they take off 20%. I got my jewelry at Mike’s - lots of good prices there. There is everything you need in Old San Juan. You can sit in one of the squares and feed the pigeons, stop at a coffee shop and rest your feet for round 2,3, and 4. We took the locals’ bus to Old San Juan every day - 50 cents round trip versus the taxis’ 6-8 dollars, and make sure to haggle with the taxi drivers.
