Paradise Island is an island attached (by way of a bridge) to Nassau . . . an old English port dotted with beautiful pastel-colored homes. The beach is clean and the water is crystal-clear. Recently, Nassau has updated its main shopping attraction, Bay Street, with a flurry of international shops. Of course, for those seeking straw items, you can visit the famous Nassau Straw Market.
The main attraction at Paradise Island is its beautiful harbor (teeming with yachts of the rich and famous) and the Atlantis Hotel and Casino. The Atlantis is a huge complex that offers superb beaches with lots of sun-and-surf action, a casino, many restaurants, and its own nightclub and movie theater. Guests can also play tennis nearby or enjoy golf at the Paradise Island championship golf course.
Also, there are some quaint shops on Paradise Island . . . but the best shopping is on Bay Street in Nassau.
As far as timeshares are concerned, I cannot recommend staying at Club Land''Or.
The best thing Club Land''Or has to offer is the friendliness of its staff and its proxmity to the Atlantis.
The resort is close to the Atlantis (a walk around the harbor), but there is no easy access to the beach. To get to the beach, you have to go through the Atlantis ... and you may only use one route once you get there. Land''Or guests can not use the many pathways to the beach that are offered to Atlantis guests ... and if you try, the personnel at the door send you away.
Also, Club Land''Or charges many additional fees when you arrive. These include a $16.00 per person/per day fee for the pleasure of staying at this (at best)average resort (this is on top of the fee that you have paid for trading into the resort) + various hotel taxes and required gratuities.
Our room wasn''t anything special. For example, the air conditioning meter could not be read (the digital lights were broken) ... we had to guess the temperature setting, which made it either too cold or too hot. Also, the sliding door to the exterior balcony was broken. The unit has old furniture, and the kitchen dishes were at a bare minimal.
For these reasons, I would recommend visiting Paradise Island, but staying at a different resort. Paradise Island has enough activities for all ages and there is enough to keep anyone active.
