Mexico always seemed inviting, but my interest definitely did not lie in seeing Cancun, Cozumel, Acapulco, or Tijuana. Although they are rumored to be beautiful none of them had managed to spark my curiosity; nor did my interest lay in seeing any part of Mexico City. The alluring promises of mountains, rural villages, dirt roads, and steep paths had attracted my attention and the "La Sierra Cavalcade" horseback ride was what I had concluded as the perfect means of viewing the backcountry of Mexico. This takes place near Valle de Bravo, the home of Pepe and Lucia Schravesande and their business of taking interested horsemen trekking in the Sierras.
