New York Stories and Tips

Red White & Blue

Window Sill Photo, New York, New York

The first thing I noticed when taking the taxi from LGA Airport was the massive amount of flags...EVERYWHERE.

New Yorkers have really pulled together expressing their love for those at the WTC. I saw flags on cars, in most retail shops large and small, taxi's, blocks and blocks of homes displaying the Red, White and Blue. The cab driver told me I was his first fare of the day. He went to work at 8 am. I arrived at LGA at noon. I have never ever seen so many cabs waiting at the airport for passengers. Hundreds of Yellow cabs, with drivers just chating to kill time. Tourist, WE need you, so please visit the greatest city in the World,,,We need you back. Watch out for rip-off Flag vendors. Even in the worst of times, we have idiots trying gough consumers. Little plastic flags that you could be at any variety store before Sept 11th for $2.00 are going as high as $10.00. Oh well, what goes around comes around. You do feel a sense of pride while in this fabulous city.
