Tour the Verrazano winery

Yup, it's the same Verrazano as the bridge in NYC. Five hundred years ago Giovani Verrazano left Chianti and set off to discover NYC, and they have a commemorative stone from the bridge on their castle to prove it. It is right outside of Greve in Chianti, and what a great tour of the place it was!

Our tour guide, Gino Rossi, had lived in the IS for a little while and so speaks perfect English. It's a 3-4 hour tour, including lunch and all the wine you can drink, but first a visit to the cellars too see the barrels.

You learn all about wine making, and the whole culture there, the love/hate relationship they have with nature, and then Gino teaches you the proper way to taste a Chianti.

Tour starts at 11 sharp, and ends at 3, and reservations are a must.
