It is hard to describe Baylor to those who do not have any connection with the university. Those that attend the institution have great pride in the school. Most look back with fond memories of the school, the professors, and the friends they made while going here.
Several of the buildings are over 100 years old. All have been refurbished many times since they were built and the campus keeps growing today. These old buildings bring charm to the campus that has mixture of the new and modern and the old and familiar.
Baylor was chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1845 making it the oldest "institution of higher learning" in the state and is the largest Baptist University in the world. It was originally located in Independence, TX but moved to Waco in 1886.
Many museums are located on the campus. Visitors can visit the bear pit to see the bear usually sleeping. There is a visitor's center available that can provide you with the information you need for your visit to Baylor and Waco. Just call us at (254)710-1921.
