If you live in or are visiting the Pittsburgh area, Washington is worth the short trip. If you have the time, I recommend taking the scenic route, Route 19 South. In the section of Route 19 south of downtown Pittsburgh, there are antique shops, strip malls, restaurants, South Hills Village and Galleria shopping malls (each with their own movie theater).
As you get closer to the town of Washington, you’ll notice that there is still some countryside left, although not as much as there was just ten years ago.
Another attraction that draws people to the Washington area is The Meadows racetrack, which is located off of Route 19 and I-79.
