A spooky old hotel--Holloween treat?

Best of IgoUgo

Yes, the Belleview Biltmore is a fascinating place. In about 10 stays, we've had rooms almost everywhere in the hotel. One game to play is 'find the ice machine'. OK so to some degree I'm kidding, but it's a wonderful place to wander around and try to figure out how things work. You MUST take the official hotel tour (free to guests). The guides are extremely knowledgable and fun. They show you more of the hotel than you might expect. Find out where the train runs. If you hear it running at night, I think you're hearing some of the ghosts. Yes, I'm convinced the hotel has ghosts. I've been there for many holidays. It's a great place to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas. Halloweeen----I'll have to think about that.

The styles and sizes of the bedrooms vary much more than in a modern hotel. When you book, ask alot of questions! When have you ever stayed in a hotel that had a storage room for TRUNKS in most of the bedrooms? Most of the rooms have large walk-in closets because people used to come to the hotel and stay for the entire season. The bathrooms vary also as they have been added on and in the bedrooms over the decades. I don't think we've ever had two bathrooms that were alike.

Pet peave: it's impossible to open most of the windows. Too many layers of paint.
