During all my previous trips to casinos, all I had ever done was play video poker and blackjack.
But during our last trip to the Crystal Palace Casino in Nassau, I decided to do something different.
I made a visit to the sports book.
During an earlier trip to Las Vegas, I had gone inside their sports book but had not made a wager - mainly because I did not know how and there were such lines I did not want to hold anyone up by asking a lot of stupid questions.
After we returned I was talking to a friend about my visit to the sports book and how a person could legally bet on just about anything pertaining to sports.
It was then that we decided that on my trip to Nassau in early June, I was to place a wager on who would win the World Series.
Being loyal Atlanta Braves fans, we decided that $20 had to be placed on them with the remaining $20 being placed on the New York Yankees.
On our return home, I gave him the ticket for the Yankees and I kept the Braves ticket.
When the series was over and the Yankees had won, my friend sent our winning ticket back to Nassau via registered mail. A few days later he got confirmation that the casino had received our winning ticket.
Two weeks later a check arrived from the Marriott Crystal Palace casino for $120.00.
