With the Olympic Games being held in Sydney from September 15th 2000, the city has undergone an amazing transformation in the past 5 years. Massive infrastructure upgrades have occurred to major roads, the Sydney International Airport, Sporting facilities including the largest stadium ever built for an Olympic Games (110,000 seats), the parks, the shops; everything has been given an upgrade. The city is now buzzing with excitement and the thrill of thousands of visitiors to help us celebrate the first games of the new Millenium.
The city is an outdoor culture. We luxuriate in the fact that our winters are dry and moderate. But summer is when Sydney really shows off. The sun, surf, sand, of our city means playing outside, working outside, eating outside. With daylight saving in place the sun does not set until after 8pm each night and it is rare to find a Sydneysider inside before then. Dining is relaxed; dress is casual; mood is mellow.
This is a city to be enjoyed for not taking life too seriously but just enough to get by and to stay entertained!!!
